Training programmes at schools in developing countries
Training
Health challenges in developing countries require more than just short-term solutions. During our first project – equipping the Kasoa Polyclinic with medical equipment – it became clear that while the support with equipment and materials was urgently needed, it was not enough to create long-term change. Sustainable improvements can only be achieved if knowledge about health and prevention is directly passed on to the people on the ground.
From this realization, the idea emerged not only to train children but also teachers on the ground in Africa. Our goal is to equip both the youngest and the teachers with important health information and practical skills so that they can actively contribute to improving health in their community. By targeting children and teachers directly, we are laying the foundation for long-term change.
Goal of the project
The project aims to empower both children and teachers in Ghana through health education. It is designed to not only provide them with the necessary knowledge to prevent diseases but also raise awareness about health issues. In this way, we hope to achieve a sustainable impact that goes beyond short-term aid efforts.
Contents of the Training
The training sessions offer a mix of theoretical and practical content, including:
- First aid
- Hygiene and dental hygiene
- Common diseases
- Insurance options in Ghana
- Children's medical examinations
Why do we visit schools?
Children are the future of every society. When they learn early on how to protect their health and prevent diseases, they pass this knowledge on to their families and the community. At the same time, it is crucial to train teachers to ensure that the knowledge imparted is preserved in the long term. By providing training in schools, we are laying the foundation for better healthcare that can have a lasting impact across generations.
Long-term sustainability
Furthermore, we aim to integrate this concept into Ghana's official curricula and are actively engaging in dialogue with policymakers to promote its implementation at the national level. Our focus is on sustainable, collaborative development cooperation that takes place on an equal footing.
